Dr. Angela Wong

Dr. Wong was born and raised in Union City. She attended San Francisco State University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology emphasis in Physiology and Chemistry Minor. She went on to earn her Doctorate from Western University of Health Sciences and was awarded with the Marchon Practice Management Award. Dr. Wong also specializes in Myopia management for young children that including Orthokeratology, MiSight, and Atropine. She is also certified in treating glaucoma and prescribing therapeutic medications.

Dr. Wong is a Union City native and looks forward to serving her local community. In her spare time, she enjoys trying local restaurants, gardening, board games, and hiking with her two dogs: Charlie and Milo.

Dr. Jamie Llanera

Dr. Jamie Llanera was born in the Philippines before she moved to California in 1997 and has been a Bay Area local ever since. She attended UC Davis for her undergraduate studies and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class and was a member of the optometric honor society Beta Sigma Kappa for academic excellence.

For additional enrichment, Dr. Llanera completed post-graduate residency training at the VA Central California Health System in Fresno, California with an emphasis in ocular disease and primary care. Dr. Llanera is pleased to integrate her passion for preserving ocular health into her patient care. When not caring for her patients, Dr. Llanera enjoys weightlifting, playing video games or board games with her family and friends, and singing karaoke.

Dr. Gary M. Louie

Dr. Gary M. Louie

Dr. Gary Louie is a 5th generation Californian and was born and raised here in the East Bay Area. He graduated with Highest Honors from the University of California at Berkeley and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his doctorate in Optometry in 1979 from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry. Dr. Louie came to Union City in 1980 and has been serving the vision and health needs of our community since then.

He has also served as the staff optometrist at the U.S. Coast Guard Support Center in Alameda for 19 years. Dr. Louie was also chosen to be an expert examiner for the State Board of Optometry, assisting in evaluating the clinical skills of optometric graduates applying for licensure to practice optometry in California.

Dr. Louie has a keen interest in keeping up with optometric technology and science. Each day, he seeks to integrate that focus with educating patients about their eyes and vision and providing the best quality examination and patient experience possible!

When he is not busy seeing patients, he enjoys photography, hiking, backpacking, traveling, and working with the community. He served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 176 in Fremont for six years, and he and his wife have three grown sons. He has recently been on short-term mission trips to Haiti, working with an orphanage in Port-au-Prince.

Dr. Louie’s special interests include macular degeneration, dry eye, diabetic retinopathy, computer vision syndrome, ocular allergies, and color vision disorders using ChromaGen and EnChroma technology.
